Scotland 2050 Goes to New York

The Scotland 2050 team have just returned from Tartan Week in New York City - one of the world's greatest celebrations of Scottish culture. Brand Scotland was on full display, with thousands of people lining Sixth Avenue to watch the annual Tartan Day Parade. Pipe bands descended from all corners of the world, and of course the one and only Sam Heughan - Scots star of hit TV series Outlander and this year's Grand Marshall - led the way in style.

I've been coming to Tartan Week in New York City for a number of years now, but this trip had a special highlight: meeting the legend that is Steve Clarke, Scotland's football manager, along with members of the squad. Their passion, determination and ambition for the forthcoming World Cup was infectious. Mon the Scots!

Scotland has a long and proud affiliation with America - and New York City in particular. But what struck me most this year was the sheer level of interest in Scotland as a place to visit, live, study and invest. The world is paying attention.
